All throughout history, there are a number of people that have been able to make very significant contributions to different communities and because of that, they are considered to be some of the most important heroes. A number of the people were able to transform the world through business while others through politics and leadership but in addition, there are others who are human rights activists. One of the biggest civil rights activists in the world that was able to create history was known as James Meredith and he was an African-American. According to sources, this was the first African-American that was able to attend the University of Mississippi. Born in 1933, James Meredith was brought up together with other siblings on a farm and that was the childhood. After attaining a certain age, was able to go to a certain high school that was under the military. After this, it is also recorded that the man was able to attend a college that was all black. After being able to get his law degree from the University, James Meredith was involved in politics and also, civil rights.
James Meredith stays in the Jackson Mississippi region and he continues with civil rights activists. During his childhood, James very was one of the few black or African Americans that was insulated from racism that was there in the United States at the time. The first encounter of racism that James Meredith got was when he was riding on a train that was coming from Chicago. They were forced to give up their seats to other people and were told to move to the back of the train in Memphis Tennessee. Up to the destination that they were going to, James Meredith and the brother had to stand together with many other black people that were the back of the train. The fair treatment of the African-Americans became his priority because of this incident and this considered to be the life-changing experience.
Before being able to go into the University of Mississippi, there are a number of problems that he encountered for example, his admission was revoked the moment the registrar realized that he was an African-American. He protested this decision and because of this, the case proceeded even to the Supreme Court which ended up ruling in his favor. Apart from that, James Meredith has a personal life and he is political activity have been very consistent all throughout the years.
